You don’t have to go to Nashville to hear talented country artists. On Saturday, March 26 at 6 PM, the Birdseye Lounge in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, will host some of the best country singer/songwriters from New England. Ten artists will be performing acoustic originals and cover songs in a unique country music round-robin showcase.
All musicians are members of “New England to Nashville” (NETN), an organization founded in 2011 by Matt Casey. NETN has over 700 talented New England musicians and songwriters in their network who perform in both New England and Nashville.
Performers on the 26th include three New Hampshire natives Andrew Merzi, Brandon Lepere and Rory Scott as well as Ashley Dawn, Colin Axxxwell, Haley Chic, Jimmy Connor, Martin and Kelly, Mickey Lamantia, and Tom Dixon. Brandon Lepere—declared “Junior Male Vocalist of the Year” by a national competition in Las Vegas as a teen—collaborates with many renowned producers and songwriters in Nashville. Jimmy Connor won New England Country Music Organization’s 2015 award for “Male Vocalist, Male Entertainer, and Instrumentalist of the Year.” Tom Dixon received the group’s 2011 award for “Entertainer of the Year” followed by the “Country Act of the Year” in 2013, and has opened for big-name acts such as Eric Church, the Zac Brown Band, Sugarland, and Lady Antebellum. Rory Scott won “2011 Male Entertainer and Male Vocalist” for the NH Country Music Association.
